Fine dining is an element of luxury which is absolutely essential. One of the most satisfying pleasures on earth, a gourmet meal made by a master chef is an event discerning gourmands travel the world for. Ever since the Michelin Guide began awarding stars to restaurants which might be found along the roads of France nearly one hundred years ago, obtaining a Michelin star, or two or even three, has been a high ambition or merely a lofty dream, but always an extremely prestigious recognition for any restaurant that has achieved it.
By 2018, diners in Asia and around the globe were wondering when there would also be Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok. Finally, with the first issue of the Michelin Guide finally tailored for the vibrant capital of Thailand, in 2018, and in the latest one due to come out in 2019, diners here in Southeast Asia could enjoy Michelin star in Bangkok, without having to travel thousands of kilometers.
The city’s most excellent restaurants have received one, or more than one, star while still others, such as La VIE – Creative French Cuisine at VIE Hotel Bangkok, MGallery, received a Michelin Plate in the first issue of the Michelin Guide Bangkok, indicating a place for a good meal. Later La VIE is to be recommended in the upcoming issue for 2019, as both the modern and elegant décor and menu of superb French dining with a Japanese touch have an irresistible appeal, doubtlessly influenced by the regularly hosted Michelin-starred chefs who visit the restaurant throughout each year.
Other Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok are among the most well-known in the city, and it is an honour for La VIE to be mentioned alongside them as venues of distinction. Among them you will find the famous Le Normandie in the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, which received two stars. On the list of Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok, you will also find Indian cuisine at Gaggan, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon on Silom Road, tantalizing Thai at Sra Bua and, what may be surprising to those who do not yet know how delicious Thai street food is, the Jay Fai streetside food seller which also won a star.
